2004 Gettysburg Reenactment Photos
Due to a recent back injury, I would be sidelined in camp. A soldier on sick call. However, it was a great opportunity to bring four of my nieces and nephews along. 11 year old Rachel was the only veteran reenactor among them. It would be the first time for 8 year old Michael, 6 year old Mathias and 4 year old Emily. Most of the photos are of kids. It felt weird not going into battle. The temperature was quite hot in the low 90's and very humid. Even some of my hardcore pards suffered from the heat. So in a way I'm glad I had a slipped disc! The kids had a ball and enjoyed the great outdoors. The two eldest even gave campaigning a try and slept out under the stars with just a ground cloth and blanket. It was great to see old pards of the 7th MD again and to shoot the breeze and sing a few songs around the campfire. My four little charges had a blast and want to know when's the next reenactment. Emily made a great friend with Emma who's three and a half. They both pronounced the town Spaghettisburg! Click on the photos to view them.
Movies from my little web camera. Click on the links to view the movies, they are in windows media player format.
Emily and Emma dancing. With no prompting from any adults, Emma and Emily try their hand at 19th century dancing. They do a better job than klutzy old me!
