2001 New Market, Virginia Reenactment Photos
The seventh again took part in the annual New Market Reenactment on May 19th and 20th. For the first time I'll be posting photos in sepia tone to try and capture the feel of the time. After all they didn't have color film in 1864! We all braved the relentless rain, mud and marching. Heard the errie ping ping ping of the bullets around the Bushong house. Yours truly got her eardrum hurt (wear earplugs) - I'll be out of action until Gettysburg to allow the nerve damage to heal. So pards be careful out there, elevate your rifle and wear some protection. You can find white ear plugs that don't look farby. My little 7 year old niece had a ball getting all muddy. While her 13 year old sister enjoyed the ratio of females to males. There was card games aplenty with some of the younger crowd beating the crap out of their elders. Lots of spring water and singing and birthday celebrating. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner spread courtesy of the fine ladies of the 7th - thanks Cheryl. Little Miss Emma made her debut at age 7 months and was a delight to all. Plus her daddy Corporal Bush was arrested and shackled! Hmm wonder if some of my pards are into a little S&M :)
